Welcome to Clay City Schools

Clay City Spirit

As many of you may have heard today Governor Pritzker extended the shelter in place order and school closure date through April 30th. We will continue to keep you updated with information regarding your student's school work and activities through the School Message system, school website, and PBIS page.

The district Remote Learning Plan has been posted on the website for your review.

Be safe and stay healthy!

Thank you,

Mrs. Croy

**NEW INFORMATION**

Continued School Break Information for Parents/Students

Schoolwork over the extended break:

Assignment packets will be available for you to pick-up on Tuesday 3-31-20 from 8:00 – 3:00. These assignments for your child are a continuation of the materials that were previously sent home at the beginning of this break. Please have your child complete the work over the break to the best of his or her ability. Teachers will be checking their school e-mail periodically each day of the break so please e-mail your child’s teacher with any questions. The teacher e-mail addresses can be accessed on the school website at claycityschools.org, or continue to communicate with teachers as you have done thus far in the year.

Cancellations:

As part of the directive from Gov. Pritzker, all school activities, practices, events, screenings, etc. have also been cancelled. Once this school closure is over and students return to school, we will provide information on rescheduled dates as well as information for school activities.

Timetable:

The Governor and the Illinois State Board of Education
extended the school shutdown through Gov. Pritzker’s “Shelter in Place” order. That order and the school closure extends through April 7th .

Food Distribution:

We will be making food available for students only during the school closure. Each day we will provide a sack meal that will contain breakfast and lunch for that day.

Meals will be “grab and go” and we will set up a “drive through” pick up system at designated distribution sites.

Those sites will be at the front door of the elementary school and the Sailor Springs American Legion.

The school site will be open 7:30 – 10:00 a.m.
and the Legion pickup will be available 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. daily.

In order to prepare enough meals we would like you please contact the school via the PBIS Facebook page or call 618-676-1431 and we will have them ready for you to pick up.

During this unprecedented time in history we appreciate your understanding and support for our students, school, and community. Clay City is a wonderful caring district that has shown through these troubling times that we can and have looked out for each other. All of us from the school want to say thank you and keep up the great support for everyone!!

Please feel free to contact us at 618-676-1431 or via e-mail at ccroy@claycityschools.org if you have any questions.

With much care and appreciation for everyone,

The Clay City Schools Faculty, Staff, Administration,
and Board of Education

24/7 Statewide Hotline: COVID-19

The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) in coordination with the Illinois Poison Control Center have launched the Illinois Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Hotline and email address to answer questions Local Health Departments, clinicians, and the general public may have regarding the 2019 novel Coronavirus.

The hotline and email address were created to provide consistent information, answer questions, share facts about symptoms, and provide up-to-date information from the CDC.

Illinoisans can dial 1-800-889-3931 twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week or email DPH.SICK@ILLINOIS.GOV

to get their questions answered.

We All Count

The 2020 Census is important for our community.  Did you know that over 1,000,000 children were not counted in the 2010 census?  That translates into a loss of funding of $940 per person.  For 2020, the estimates are $2000-2400 per person.  Please help our community by accurately reporting the number of people in your household including all children born on or before April 1, 2020.  Accurate counts determine funding for our schools, our health department programs like WIC, free and reduced lunches for children, and access to rural healthcare.  Even if you don't use these programs, accurate numbers are important for the greater community.
